Glenda Sol Koeraus, known artistically as Sol “La Argentinita,” is an Argentine-born, New York City–based flamenco dancer, singer, choreographer, educator, and founder and Artistic Director of Flamenco y Sol. Her work brings flamenco into dialogue with theater, storytelling, immigration, memory, resilience, and cultural identity.
She has appeared at major venues including Lincoln Center, The Joyce Theater, Town Hall, and the Metropolitan Opera, where she performed for multiple seasons in productions of Carmen and La Traviata. Most recently, she was Principal Dancer in the Berkshire Opera Festival’s 2025 production of La Traviata. She also served as Choreographer and Principal Dancer for Carmen at Portland Opera.
Her theater and touring credits include Christopher Gattelli’s In Your Arms at Powerhouse Theater, Zorro! The Musical at Alliance Theatre, national tours with Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca, and a seven-month U.S. and Canadian tour as dancer, singer, and choreographer for Gala of the Royal Horses.
In 2007, Sol founded Flamenco y Sol, a Brooklyn-based company dedicated to preserving and expanding flamenco through original performance, artistic collaboration, education, and community engagement. Her recent projects include El Inmigrante – Metamorphosis, Beyond the Surface – The Strength Within, Bodies of Memories, the Brooklyn Flamenco Festival, and cultural exchange programs connecting New York artists and audiences with flamenco traditions in Andalucía.
As an educator, Sol has taught through the Ailey organization, Mark Morris Dance Center, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, New York City Center, and numerous schools, libraries, Older Adult Centers, and community organizations throughout New York City. Her work and the projects of Flamenco y Sol have received support from NYSCA, the MAP Fund, Brooklyn Arts Council, SU-CASA, City Artist Corps, and the Jubilation Foundation. She has also received recognition from the Jerome Foundation and participated in a residency at Jacob’s Pillow.
